'VILD' - New podcast universe coming soon
Think tank INVI has received a grant from the Carlsberg Foundation for a new podcast universe on the frontline of wild problem research. The podcast VILD will be available soon.
Climate neutrality. Biodiversity. Well-being. Prosperity. Prosperity. Never before have expectations for our society been higher. Never has the confidence that we can succeed been lower. It looks bleak in many ways, but there is hope on the horizon. There are people in the field creating new knowledge. In the VILD podcast, host Sigge Winther Nielsen takes one current topic at a time and guides us into the frontline of research so that we both understand and feel how we tame society's wild problems.
"With VILD, we want to strengthen the conversation about how we expand society's imagination, and to mature all the good research that points forward through communication, conversation and criticism so that it reaches the center of power," says INVI's Head of Communications, Tine Maria Borresø.
And the podcast intends to make time like few others. Time to go in-depth with knowledgeable people on a topic - which is currently in the media spotlight - to soak up nuances and capture new ideas that can be tested tomorrow. INVI believes there is a need for this too:
"When it comes to our society's wild problems, the public debate is often characterized by short comments that criticize the past. Questions like how did we get here and who is responsible? It is for all sorts of reasons - including good ones. But if we want to create real change, we also need to zoom in on whether and how we can change the future and allow ourselves the time that conversation takes," says Tine Maria Borresø.
The podcast VILD will explore what works - and whether we even have the answers. When fertility rates fall, the focus is not whether it's because women prefer to pursue a career. VILD will explore which policies, according to research, make societies have more children. When unemployment rises among young people, the conversation will not be about who the arrow is pointing to, but what is pointing forward. VILD will dive into the experiments that are happening right now from Esbjerg to Helsinki that can actually change the statistics.
Denmark has some of the world's most talented social scientists - and they are productive. At the same time, experiments with new ways to solve our society's wild problems are happening in every corner of the kingdom, just as the rest of the world is struggling with the same issues. And it's all of them, from the brand new PhD student to the leading researchers in Denmark and abroad to the practitioner in the field, who will share their knowledge in VILD, so that we understand and feel the insanely complex, and find courage and community for the way forward.
The podcast goes out to all Danes hungry for social change and eager for knowledge who are interested in or working to tame the wild problems - from ensuring warm hands to a climate that does not collapse. Both those who do it from below and from above. From the young activist to the nursing home manager to the experienced lobbyist.
The countdown is on. The VILD podcast will go live at the end of March.
