Experienced director and political navigator: Meet INVIS' new head of secretariat

We are growing. From one man to a team of fifteen people - in just over a year. All fired up about developing the toolbox for Denmark's collaborative democracy. It's steep and there's plenty to get to grips with, and from here, development is moving steadily forward. That's why INVI is upgrading the think tank's management. Joining the team is a new strongwoman who will be responsible for managing the growing interdisciplinary team of everything from data scientists to journalists to political scientists, cbs graduates and designers, as well as expanding and operating the growing base in Snaregade. Experienced director and political navigator Janne Bram Hemphrey will be INVI's new head of secretariat.

Janne Bram Hemphrey's profile is at the intersection of politics, strategy and management. She has worked in politics for the past 20 years and has a good nose for politics and a solid network. At the same time, she is an experienced leader with a focus on the mission and people, who knows how to build an organization that can keep up when development and new winds blow.

"I have always worked politically to create positive change. Nothing could be more meaningful than working in INVI to support democracy and sharpen our ability as a society to analyze and deal with all the wild problems we are in the middle of, facing or around the corner," says Janne Bram Hemphey and continues

" The world is changing rapidly, and that requires new approaches. Approaches that INVI has good ideas for. I'm excited to lead a secretariat full of highly committed and truly talented people."

From intern for Poul Nyrup to CEO

Janne Bram Hemphrey has been around politics. From intern for former Prime Minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen in Brussels to special advisor in the Ministry of the Environment. From there, Janne took a leap into the private sector as Director of Regulatory Affairs and External Relations at PFA. From there she moved on to the trade union world as CEO of Danske Fysioterapeuter. She has also cultivated a broad and exciting portfolio of board positions, and in her youth she kept herself busy with studies, volunteer and political work. In other words, she has more than enough strengths under her belt, but not the ability to sit still. However, that's not the job she has accepted at INVI either.

"I am very happy to have Janne Bram Hemphrey on board. With her drive, strong leadership skills, strategic mindset and great political insight, she is the right person to bring on board to take INVI to the next level", says CEO and founder Sigge Winther Nielsen.

In her new position, all of Janne Bram Hemphrey's experience will come into play. Her time in Brussels and at Borgen to her foresight insight as a former board member at Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies to predict the right strategic moves in PFA and union Denmark.

In addition to becoming part of INVI's management team, Janne will be responsible for 14 employees, members, organizational development, operations and the framework of The Yellow Farm. She will also play an important role in the work with finances, the board, the further development of INVI's strategy, and all collaborations with foundations, ministries, municipalities and organizations.

The growth is far from over

The think tank INVI works closely with ministries, municipalities, foundations and civil society to tackle the root of the Wild Problem - and as a non-profit and politically independent think tank, INVI acts as a focal point for many of those working with social change, from private actors to public organizations to civil society to the research community. INVI's new Model for Wild Problems is our main vein in problem solving, but we also activate a wide range of other tools and experiments in our work to connect the front door and back door of democracy.

"The growth of INVI is far from over. Therefore, it is not only important, but crucial that we have a strong head of secretariat to expand and strengthen the foundation, so that we can continue to jointly become even better at tackling the pressing issues of our time," says Sigge Winther Nielsen.

Janne Bram Hemphrey formally took up the position on January 1, 2025.

Background information

Janne Bram Hemphrey has a background as CEO of a trade union, as a special advisor in the Ministry of the Environment, and she has been director of regulatory affairs and external relations at PFA and head of public affairs at Nykredit. She has a background in political science and, in addition to management training and further education in strategic communication, she has taken a board education at CBS Executive in banking and mortgage credit. Among other board positions, she has been appointed by the Minister for Business and Industry to sit on the board of EKF- Denmark's export credit (now EIFO), and she has been on the board of NDUNA and the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies for a number of years.
