Think tank INVI is looking for a senior analyst to shape the future of problem understanding
INVI is a new, independent think tank that is neither party-political nor sector-specific, but looks across society and sees the wild problems as a whole. We have high ambitions and collaborate with the best in the country. We custom design tools for all parts of Denmark's collaborative democracy so that together we can become even better at tackling the pressing issues of our time.
Your mission:
As a society, we face a number of challenges that, in the words of the Reform Commission, have been recognized and attempted to solve, yet remain unresolved. This leaves us with the question: Why are some societal problems harder to tackle than others? And what works well and what doesn't when we try? In particular, we believe there is a need for new methods to help leaders across society understand just that.
INVI's problem understanding model is currently being developed in collaboration with Professor Jacob Gerner Hariri, Chief Advisor Carl-Johan Dalgaard and Professor Nina Smith and is a breakthrough in the handling of wild problems. Through the use of artificial intelligence, language models and insights from hundreds of practitioners, the model provides a unique look at the anatomy of wild problems and opens up new ways of handling old problems.
It will be your mission to make the model operational. To see opportunities in its data ocean and present it in a way that creates actionable insights for leaders in key decision-making spaces in politics, administration, organizations, civil society and businesses.
Your role:
We create the role together, but we envision that you will:
Take INVI's problem understanding model from its development stage to application among leaders across public, private and civil society.
Publish analysis that educates the public on wildlife issues based on INVI's Policy insights panel (PIP), which consists of over 700 practitioners, and INVI's Policy expert panel (PEP), which brings together over 40 researchers in policy and administration.
Create a strong professional environment and be a sounding board for your colleagues and, in the long term, build an analytics department with the opportunity to take on a managerial role.
Help maintain and develop good working relationships with knowledge environments at home and abroad.
Have a voice in the public debate if you have the courage to do so.
We imagine that:
You work purposefully and independently, and you are able to translate uncommon empirical data into concrete, actionable analysis.
You have mastered your qualitative and quantitative methods, including the ability to create surveys and work with statistics.
You can write and express yourself in an understandable way so that your thoughts make an impact.
Maybe you come with 3-4 years of experience from central administration, maybe you are a sociologist? Maybe you come from the consulting world, a think tank or an interest organization? Maybe you don't. The important thing is that you're ready to develop analytics that help understand and shape society's wild problems.
Deadline is June 10th with interviews in mid/late June, but we are continuously accepting interesting candidates for a dialog. Send your application to Director Sigge Winther Nielsen and Head of Secretariat Esben Dahl Sørensen at esben@invi.nu.
About Think Tank INVI
Do you feel like you formulate a lot of policy, but change often fails to happen? You are far from alone in that feeling. Economics professor Nina Smith's Reform Commission was born because our approaches to reform no longer work the way they did in the last century. A lot can be solved with existing tools, but not everything can be solved by a commission, an expert group or by raising and lowering taxes.
In the media, you also regularly hear cries from leading officials, politicians, journalists and researchers: We want too much in too little time, we focus too much on debate and too little on implementation. The system is set up so that political rewards are reaped when the vision is launched - not when the results are evaluated.
This is especially true for societal problems that are transnational and intractable. Just think of climate change, poor well-being or the lack of hands in the labor market. They are all wild problems, and they often require new approaches. Think tank INVI works closely with ministries, municipalities, foundations and civil society to tackle the root of the wild problem.
