Wild problems require wild communication - Think tank INVI adds head of communication

Wild problems require new approaches and experiments, but there is also a need to inspire courage, hope and action among citizens and users. Spearheading this mission is former DR journalist, media leader and innovator Tine Maria Borresø, who will be INVI's new Head of Communications.

There is a need for strong, understandable and diverse communication. That formats and concepts are invented that are specially designed for target groups from the castle to Bogense Gymnasium. INVI has already built a strong foundation here, but now it needs to be expanded. And that's exactly what INVI's new Communications Manager, Tine Maria Borresø, has spent her career doing.

'You are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts'. This was the slogan of DR's Detektor, which Tine helped turn into the powerful DR format that researchers, politicians and media alike feared would scrutinize their facts and figures. She has dug deep into reform packages as an investigative journalist and documentary editor, and has led the development of a host of other DR programs, formats, events and departments - even an entire radio channel.

"INVI has set out to solve the biggest and most important development task of our time. To shake up the design of democracy and the entire "political nurture" to make room for new things to sprout. And it's not about pointing fingers, but about pointing forward. It gave me a wild tailwind on my bike path, and now the bike goes to INVI's yellow farm," says Tine Maria Borresø.

Now she'll be communicating and innovating at INVI, responsible for spreading the understanding of wild problems. Tine will ensure that the tools and methods developed in the Think Tank are disseminated so that they can be widely used and experiment with new formats to bring more perspectives into play. All this so that we hopefully become smarter about the problems and create a gathering place for everyone working to tame wild problems.

INVI's new Head of Communications not only brings deep insight into journalism and communication - from events to podcasts, from breaking news to tough debates - to the toolbox. She also has a solid development muscle and is an experienced change driver. But tools only work if they are used, which is why INVI is arming itself with a Head of Communications, the experienced DR media profile and innovator, Tine Maria Borresø, who will focus on that very mission.

"I love two things. One. Communicating the complex so that everyone can participate. And two. To shake up the 'usual' so that we can keep up and preferably also pave the way for a better tomorrow than yesterday. I have been privileged to experiment with and specialize in this - at DR as a journalist and manager, and during the three years at other media and in completely different industries, both private and public. The common denominator has been that the tasks have had to be difficult, preferably close to impossible, and of course make a difference, so I've always had a mission," says Tine Maria Borresø.

The think tank INVI has just turned one year old and is about to present the fruits of a new research collaboration. On September 13, the 'INVI's Wild Problems Model' will be presented at a hearing at Christiansborg - a tool that maps wild problems using AI. The model will bring practitioners' experiences into the decision-making space and give us a common language to talk about wild problems.

Tine and her team will be at the forefront of learning from the experiments out there and creating the playing field for more people to play on.

Tine has already driven her first kilometers. She took up the position on August 1.

Background information

Tine Maria Borresø holds a master's degree in journalism and a bachelor's degree in public administration from Roskilde University. She has 13 years of experience from DR, where she has worked with everything from fast news to heavy investigative documentaries to digital transformation. She has been head of DR's Detektor and development manager at DR Nyheder, where she helped launch 'Slotsholmen', which was not just another spin magazine, but a format that dared to talk nerdy about political craftsmanship. Most recently, she spearheaded the development of DR's P3 - from challenged youth radio channel to the Nordic region's largest digital youth brand, as editorial director of P3.

For the past three years, she has been a creative maverick. She has worked as an independent strategic consultant in the media industry and as a communicative construction manager and change driver for one of Denmark's largest technical vocational schools to crack the code on the massive skills shortage of the future. Finally, Tine loves both learning and teaching. She does this as a mentor, external lecturer and external examiner at the country's universities' communication and journalism programs.
