Brand new and exclusive masterclass for senior leaders who want to tackle complex challenges with new tools and close collaboration across sectors.

The masterclass is offered by INVI in collaboration with Komponent - Kommunernes Udviklingscenter.

Getting started

The world is changing, and as a senior leader, you face challenges that require something different and more than traditional management tools. Let's call them wicked problems - complex, cross-border and intractable problems that are rarely easy to define or solve. Think unhappiness, climate crisis, labor shortages and public health challenges.

Whether you're a leader in the public, private or civil society sector, wicked problems are an inevitable part of your everyday life and future.

This masterclass provides you with a unique learning experience where you, alongside other senior leaders from different sectors, explore new ways to tackle complex challenges. Together, we'll develop a new compass to navigate the shifting waters of wicked problems and focus on how to create real change in your organization.

Target group

The Masterclass is aimed at senior leaders from regions, state, municipalities and larger organizations in the private and civil society sectors, including executive board members, department heads, directors and deputy directors. It is a unique opportunity for you to collaborate with like-minded leaders across sectors and gain new perspectives on complex issues.

Yields

By the end of the masterclass, you will be equipped with a powerful compass and atlas to navigate wicked problems. You'll gain a deep understanding of the complex dynamics that characterize the challenges you face and learn how to use the INVI model as an effective tool for dealing with wicked problems.

Just as importantly, you'll develop relationships with a strong network of senior leaders across sectors that you can draw on for future challenges.

The Masterclass will not only give you theoretical insights, but also practical methods to create change in your organization and in society and give you the opportunity to create new alliances with other leading change drivers and top leaders across sectors and industries.

Scope and scope

The course is spread over 3 months with 3 modules. Last module with overnight stay.

You get a total of 3½ intensive custom-designed course days, combining theory, practice and experience sharing - with time in between to digest, test the methods and cultivate your new network for the future.

Course structure and content

  • Date: March 11, 2025, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    Location: Snaregade 10B, 1208 Kbh K

The first day is based on defining and understanding the wild problems that you face. What characterizes the challenges and why are they so hard to solve? We present INVI's Wild Problem Model, which provides you with a compass to steer through the wilderness of complexity. The model is a collective intelligence tool that strengthens your decision-making by transforming insights directly from the practitioners closest to the problem into actionable interventions.

INVI's model is designed to help leaders analyze and navigate complex issues, and we use it to identify and work with participants' own cases. You'll have the opportunity to collaborate with senior leaders from other sectors and hear how they tackle similar challenges. You'll quickly discover that while the sectors may be different, the problems are closely linked.

    Meet among others:

    • Jesper Fisker talks about the nature of the challenges that public and private organizations face today and in the future.

    • Sigge Winther Nielsen, paving the way to understanding your wild problem.

  • Date: April 8, 2025, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    Location: Weidekampsgade 10, 2300 Kbh S

On day two, we'll dive deeper into how you can navigate using collaboration models based on your compass. You will be introduced to an atlas of collaborative models that allows you to match specific types of wild problems with concrete tools. The focus is on how to mobilize resources and engage the world around you - both internally and externally. Drawing on the experiences of other senior leaders, you'll gain insight into how to create effective collaborations that not only tackle problems in the here and now, but also create lasting change. The day will conclude with a discussion on sustained implementation - how do you ensure that the solutions you develop become reality?

    Meet among others:

    • Geoff Mulgan, who paints a picture of the international trends in dealing with wildlife issues.

    • Pernille Halberg Salamon and Martin Østergaard Christensen in a conversation about how to create real change in large organizations with many stakeholders.

  • Date: May 6, 14:00 - May 7, 13:00

Location: Hotel Hesselet, Christianslundsvej 119, 5800 Nyborg

The final day focuses on your personal leadership and ability to drive change in complex environments. How do you rally politicians, organizations and stakeholders around a common strategic effort? We work with case-based learning, looking at concrete examples of how leaders have created change in complex situations. You'll learn how to effectively work across sectors and in the "spaces" within your own organization - the places where innovation often happens. We end the day by focusing on leading with data and how to embed real change in the culture and structure of your organization. Once again, there will be an opportunity to exchange experiences with the other top leaders so that you go home with concrete strategies that can be implemented immediately.

    Meet among others:

    • Martin Præstegaard, ATP's CEO. and former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, who talks about putting yourself in play and leading the organization when it comes to realizing the strategy.
